Walking
The Peak district is a walker’s paradise.  For a good list of walks visit www.peakwalking.co.uk

You can walk from the house to the start of a number of popular walks that start in the village of Flash (less then a mile away).

Or for a range of easier walks departing from Flash go to:

www.go4awalk.com/go4awalk.php?go4main=walks/mapggexfs.php?map=ex024

(Flash is located on the left hand side of the page about halfway up)

And of course there are many other walks a short drive away.  One of our local favourites is the nearby the Tissington trail (a 15 minute drive away) which has the benefit of being as short or as long (up to 13miles) as you choose to make it.  It also conveniently starts & ends at a pub (!)  The Royal Oak at Hurdlow SK17 9QJ (www.peakpub.co.uk). It is a very popular pub with locals & visitors alike so ring in advance for a table (07866 77 88 47).

For a gentle stroll Chatsworth House is just over half an hours drive away and has extensive gardens, a maze, and of course the magnificent house itself.

Climbing & Caving
Go Ape! (Buxton) - described as a ‘high-wire forest adventure’.  Take on giant obstacle courses up in the trees using ladders, walkways, bridges and tunnels made of wood, rope and super-strong wire, along with some zip lines if you dare! - http://www.goape.co.uk/days-out-in/derbyshire/buxton/the-course

For indoor and outdoor climbing, and indoor caving, plus archery, water sports, low ropes courses and more Upper Limits based nearby in Longnor is also highly recommended.   They can even bring an outside artificial climbing wall (9 metres high!) to the house.
